I just got my XSI and so far all have is the kit lens. Here are a couple of my first attempts at digital. Very little PP. Critique away as I still am in a very steep learning curve. The 50mm 1.8 and the 55-250mm IS are on the way.

I think they are both well thought out.
I really like the colors and "swirl" of the water in the first one.
And the placement of the barn/house framed with the tree in the foreground, in the second one.

So let's see, you've already got shutter speed and framing/composition figured out so you really don't have that much to work on...

Seriously though, very nice start. Keep shooting and keep posting!

Yep, as the others said, you're doing great. There's a little red distraction at the top of #1 you might want to clone out and the still elements don't seem very sharp, maybe due to compression for the web or f20 aperture or small camera movement.

Thanks for everyone's comments. Still a tremendous amount to learn but learning a lot on this site.
