I just got my XSI and so far all have is the kit lens. Here are a couple of my first attempts at digital. Very little PP. Critique away as I still am in a very steep learning curve. The 50mm 1.8 and the 55-250mm IS are on the way.

I think they are both well thought out.
I really like the colors and "swirl" of the water in the first one.
And the placement of the barn/house framed with the tree in the foreground, in the second one.

So let's see, you've already got shutter speed and framing/composition figured out so you really don't have that much to work on... ;)

Seriously though, very nice start. Keep shooting and keep posting!

Yep, as the others said, you're doing great. There's a little red distraction at the top of #1 you might want to clone out and the still elements don't seem very sharp, maybe due to compression for the web or f20 aperture or small camera movement.
