A park is a public place, for the public to enjoy. This seems to be a lot of fuss over very little. How miserable of you to decline someone else's enjoyment of a public space!

And I believe JeffreyG's first post was a perspective.

I was being denied enjoyment of a public space because someone was conducting their business in a public park.

No one is understanding this thread, and that's exactly what I should have expected.

I understand the thread, but you're overreacting to the situation.

Who has "more" rights to be in any public place? You? Why?

Did you even attempt to talk to them at all?

Sounds to me like you need more parks in your area, then everyone would have a place to be.

Everyone has the same rights. I didn't keep someone off the bridge for 10 minutes or make someone move out of my way, did I? Doing such things indicates they have more of a right to be there.

Hmmm. Maybe. After all you did come onto a photography forum to complain about . . . photographers. Good luck with that.

See this from the perspective of the couple. The photographer is mere documenter.

Um, pretty much. It would be like attending a political rally to complain about politics. Deep breath...waiting to cross a bridge gave you a few extra minutes to find something beautiful about the surroundings you were in.

F that. I feel what you're saying, Duderino. Who are they that they get preferential treatment over anyone else? Lots of people get married, lots of people have kids, etc. Don't F my day up because you didn't start taking pictures before I got there to enjoy MYSELF. You're not Madonna, throw some respect my way and we can deal.

It's not that they wanted you to move, just that they expect you to. Just because they're shooting pictures. Like all you "photographers" are the most polite people in the world. See how I used quotes?

On the other hand, if you had politely asked to cross, I'm sure they wouldn't have torn your head off :P

Perhaps if you had used that 10 min wait to calmly observe what was going on, you might have learned something (photographically speaking).

I'm sure if you had explained to them that you were about to crap your pants with impatience, they would have eagerly let you pass.

So what if you wanted to stand on the bridge for 10 minutes? Should you be kicked off?

You didn't really answer my question. What did you do about the situation? Was the group polite when asking you to move? What's wrong with a polite request to move? Normally people would show some polite consideration and move and not be a jerk about it.

Did you even attempt to talk to them or did you just stand there and steam yourself up about it and then come whine on here?

I was enjoying a beautiful day at the park today and saw about 10 different couples with a photographer doing wedding shots. That's fine and all, but they were taking up sidewalks and bridges that I wanted to walk on. At one point I had to wait 10 minutes to cross a bridge before they were done with a shot. At another point I was asked to move from a spot I wanted to be in so I didn't ruin their picture.

I would have said FU I will move when im good and ready.
Its ok when it is one but to have a whole bunch it sux because it ruins the enjoyment of the park for everyone.
If the photog wants to control access then buy his own land!

For this very reason photography is banned on the bridge signs have been put up in several parks.
