First shot is not too bad in terms of exposure. However, what is this dark shadow at the right side of her nose? That ad to be caused by some light source to the right of the camera, but since you were not using flash I don't know what it could be (a reflector?).

#2 is a bad lighting source from low and looking up into her face. Low lights looking up give a person a ghoulish look - not recommended! Again, no flash, so perhaps it's a reflector.

#3 is overexposed badly. The only things that are at a good exposure level are the hair on her right side and the jacket. The light source seems very diffuse, which is good, but way too hot on her face and the hair on the left side. Since the hot lighting is diffuse and not from a flash, I have to assume that it is from a diffuse reflector.

thanks robert.

flash was used on all 3.

#1 i did not even notice that stray shadow on her nose. thanks. fixed HERE. (external link)
#2 agreed. not the best of lighting, but i like the smile.
#3 the overexposure was on purpose. i thought it looks cool. can't wait for some more input on #3.

Gotta agree with Robert, but ya need to keep that model-great smile.

Since the EXIF data on all three say that the flash did not fire, just out of curiousity, what kind of flash firing system do you use that creates flash without it showing up in the EXIF? The only way that I know of for doing that is to hold the shutter open in "Bulb" mode and then manually set off an independent flash or strobe unit.

Just curious!

Cute set.I do love the expression in the seocnd.but the lighting does exactly do what Bob mentioned..gives her that spooky effect.
The third is a sweet shot, U think I know what you were going for.but it didn;t really work?
THought this was a little more flattering;)

Flo's version corrects the lighting problems to some extent and gives the face a more 3-dimensional appearance due to the fact that the shadows bring out the facial contours.

what's up with all the grey-ness on the face in #3? i agree with bob. #1 is also a little too centered. i agree with bob about the bad flash on #2 as well.
