I felt like a spammer...hehehe

that's how I felt when I was doing the posts in the first place. That's why I asked Dan to do a cartoon for it...at least it'd make people laugh if the multiple posting irritated them.

you know, the cartoons actually irritate some people (go figure:rolleyes:) so I figured I was at 6 of 1 half dozen of the other...in my choice.

you should read curtis n's thread on the elinchromes...I learned a lot there. Oh and we bought our nikon flashes on ebay for killer cheap.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out.

I'd like to have a 40 or 50D, and there are 4 more lenses that I want. If I can pick the lenses up over the next 5 years that would be nice, if not I'll live without them.

what lenses Mike? The 40d (or 50d possibly...I know nothing about it) is a really nice companion to the 5D.

oh no! What do you do when that happens?

Wait and check the mail the next day and find that it's there now. Worst part is that it had to go all of about 12 miles, left the origin on Monday, arrived here Wednesday.

The economics of photography is scary some times.

Golf was the other thing I used to spend hobby money on. I'm not sure which is worst for the pocketbook. I still enjoy golf, but the greens fees some places are just astronomical. At least once I buy my photo gear, I don't have to pay to use it.

I remember that (switching from the xt to the 30D) and loved the feel in my hands (I dont' have big hands either)...it felt so much more solid. For me, size wise the 40D is the perfect size (5D too). The 1 series are big and heavy and since I'm usually hauling 2 cameras it's nice that they both aren't 1 series.

My 20D, which used to feel so substantial, feels like a featherweight now. On top of that, I've got a Rebel film camera that I bought in 1996 that feels like an absolute toy in comparison to either.

17-40, 35L, 135L, 300 2.8.... I think a 40D or 50D with the 300 2.8 along with a 1.4x and 2x extender would make a very nice wildlife setup.

Now that TD's getting him hooked on birds, too, I'd guess that something long is on the list.

I used to think that my 100-400 was as long as I could ever imagine needing. This time of year I begin to remember why people use longer glass. Then I remember how much the $$$ skyrockets to go from the already substantial 100-400 to any of the long primes and shake my head.

I don't have and have never used the 35L but your other lenses listed are great choices (IMO). The 300 2.8 is really the best lens I've ever owned. My gosh it's a dream.

it's true...if you have a good 100-400 then maybe going prime isn't necc. The expense is considerable.

I hear you. I used to be on my high school golf team and my parents supported my "habit". Now I only play occasionally, though I enjoy mini golf when I can't get to the course. Putting was always my weakness.
