I don't think the problem is unique to Canon, either. Being on the edge with any technology carries the potential for risk. When expectations tend to be so high, the chance for something not to reach those expectations pretty much guarantees that someone will find something to scream about. Whether that ends up being significant or not is another matter.

I'd have suggested another bag, but then I saw your gear list.:lol::lol:

I can't really say that I've got anything on my wish list right now. Maybe a TC? Lighting would be fun, but I really can't decide what way I'd want to go with it, so there's a lot of research left to be done there.

if you buy a tc let me know  I have 2 canon 1.4x tc's (one came with the 300 2.8 and I had one) and Dan's 80-200 can't use it so it just hangs out in our surplus bag.

you know, I don't object to products not being able to do everything...what I object to is that products are advertised to do something (and priced accordingly) and fails to do it...well I think that either the product should be a: fixed to do what it was advertised to do, b: replaced with one that does c: recalled and refunded. If people would stand behind their products, it would inspire customer confidence.

Back in college, there was a computer game that I enjoyed playing. When the new version was released, there were some significant bugs with it that prevented it from working as designed. After a few attempts at patching the software, the company recalled it and offered to work with a select number of consumers on reworking the product to make it what it promised to be. After about a month of trying to set that up, they gave up, abandoned the product, and completely eliminated that arm of the company. I can't say that any particular step in that process really inspired me to have more confidence in that company.

Recently, I purchased a program from onone software. They had some flawed disks that didn't work...I wrote and they sent me another one. Then it didn't work. I wrote again and they called me. We troubleshooted on the phone and think we've got it worked out. They sent me a set of programs for my trouble. This program is still got some issues (I need to call back with the error messages) but the new ones work fine and their customer service has made me feel safe in buying from them.

Canon botched things with the M3....there is no question about that....and their handling of the whole matter really was an ethical stretch....

Then we have the executives at AIG still going on fancy junkets...even after taking bailout money...

And the execs from the big 3....flying to DC on private jets at a cost of 10s of thousands of dollars....begging for money from the government. No scruples. no morals. A sad commentary on our society.

Forgot to mention -- the software company offered a $20 coupon off any of their other products as an apology in addition to refunding our money. Don't think I ever spent the $$$.

Sounds like you have some real talent. Golf is a great sport but it's become very expensive. When I lived in Las Vegas during the 80's, I could play 18 holes of twilight golf for $9.00 at a couple of the courses.

Thanks, Mike. We played free (paid by the school) when I was still on the team, but the course in Queens where I usually play now is still pretty reasonable. There are also a bunch of public courses that are surprisingly inexpensive. For example, Douglaston Golf Course is only $13 on weekdays, $14 weekdays, and $15 twilight (these aren't typical prices though).

too true. too true.

Anyway, I was just thinking out loud. I see shots from the new 5DII (pre-production) and it looks good. I'm hoping (not for me but for whoever does invest) that it turns out to be better than the M3 fiasco.

It would be nice to have a extra gear :). I wouldn't mind hanging out in your surplus bag.

 that's what my kids say too. The tc won't work with the kid's lens either or I'd give it to them.

It is scary how corporate greed has gotten so out of control. There is no customer service...I've been arguing with Adobe for over a month about my copy of Elements 7....and it still isn't resolved...even though they keep claiming that it is. Until I have a new copy sitting on my desk...nothing is resolved. (They agreed to replace it...but over a month later and still no disk.)

I'll do you one better, I'll take that tc off your hands for the greatest gift of all. A child's laughter. (Family Guy reference) Pm me for my phone number if you're interested. I've got the laughter just sitting here waiting.
