I don't have and have never used the 35L but your other lenses listed are great choices (IMO). The 300 2.8 is really the best lens I've ever owned. My gosh it's a dream.

.... except for wedding photography. It's a bit of an overkill...

Mini-golf I understand...real golf....let's just say George Carlin and I have the same philosophy (external link).

George Carlin. I wish he would just get to the point. He always hides his opinions behind politeness.

Hobbies are expensive. I just realized how many I have. I'm surprised I'm not typing this from a cardboard box.

There are so many things I want to do, but so little time.

Depressing getting the new B&H catalog a few weeks ago and I didn't need anything. Wanted a ton of stuff, but not really agonizing over any new purchases. Anyone else feel like one more thing is too much for a bag? ;)

I went to Hawaii with only the 80-200 and the 28-75 with assorted filters and grads. I never had want for another lens. It was a valuable lesson. I'm discovering that I can do just as much with fewer toys.

Why can't people qualify their word usage? Or, for that matter, why do people assume that a word means something when it hasn't been clarified. English can be a concise language if we allow it to be, but most people don't seem to.

Take the word "best" for example. I can't assume anything from that, your "best" is different than mine and it is all based on the purpose of the object I am applying "best" to.

I am beginning to wonder if there truly isn't something which is the Best, in and of itself.

Photoshop is not the BEST photo editing application, there are others that do things better or differently and those might be the best for some person, making say, LR better for person Y while person X prefers PS.

SIGH... why do I bother to think on such silly issues. (This isn't in reference to anything in this thread.)

I'm have the BEST coffee drink right now.

Moo, All.

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

I'd really like to have the 24-105L.... I was thinking of that for this weekend trip... I don't want to lug everything around all weekend with the boys. I'd like to put on one lens and be done with it for the most part. I have a Sigma 28-90 That I really do use like that a lot, but I some times want a tad bit wider or more often a bit longer... But alas I make do with what I have...

Jen, have you ever considered the 55-250 IS? It's not as expensive as an L but it has quite nice IQ for a non L...and IS. Plus the range is pretty darn good.

Hey Chris, don't you know this guy?

https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=6719158&postcount=1

He's selling a 300 2.8.

Yup. (Scott already beat you with a PM about the Craigslist version of this ad):lol: Good ol' Boring Boy always throwing the temptations my way!

Nothing happened really. It is more I have noticed people asking in various threads what is the best application for x, or the best sports lens, etc. But don't qualify the context to the usage of the item.

People just tend to assume that "best" equals one of the following: A. "top of the line" product offered by some company, B. most expensive, C. what they use themselves.

(A and B are probably interchangeable)

As for a Grandpa Riley rant, my brother told me "act your age dude, your 20 but act like you are 50, stop being a stuck up tight***"

As for the Me generation, my cynical side say this economic mess we are in needs to slap a WHOLE bunch of people across the face for misled, self-centered consumerism. I suppose it is a good thing I don't listen to that side too much ;).

This is the BEST post EVER!

Oh wait. Dood, your brother has a point. But only 1 (unlike David). That being said, I wouldn't be too upset about wanting to join an older generation and abandoning your own. :)

So my desktop computer has decice that it no longer likes the internet. It'll connect to the local area network, but not to the internet. It'll only let me access local stuff. But, if I plug in my laptop (like I am not), everything works fine.

Normally I can get this stuff sorted out pretty quickly, but I can't figure this out for the life of me. I didn't install anything, change any settings, or anything else. Just turned off my computer for the night, and this morning it wouldn't work.

Sigh...

I hate computers.

hey, I missed the shots (and can't find them) where you guys from NC met up with Jon. Are there any links for it or a gallery or something?

Doubtful. Which one?

If you're talking about the book submission, it's good for another 32 minutes. :p
