Grrr.... braved traffic in the city - went to Worst, er, Best Buy - got a 10.4" digital picture frame from Mom for Christmas -- hard to find one with good res... 800x600 was the best I could do... bring it home... load up some photos... BAM - no LCD backlight..

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! So now I have to drive back into town (maybe later tonight after traffic dies down) - return it and then find some other frame...

That bites.

We got my parents a 10.4" one from Costco. Pandigital Brand (not that I know any difference between them) with 1024X768 resolution. You might want to see if that's an option. I'm going to try to preload it with pictures of their China trip for them (and I guess I'd better make sure the backlight works).

Just checked the weekend weather forecast for this area and saw this note:

.A STRONG FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL SPREAD PRECIPITATION INLAND OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING THROUGH MUCH OF SUNDAY. A COMBINATION OF BLIZZARD CONDITIONS... HEAVY SNOW... STRONG WINDS AND ICE BUILDUPS ARE EXPECTED.

I honestly do not remember ever seeing blizzard conditions mentioned in a forecast for this area. This morning they were discussing winds to 70mph, with gusts possible to 90 in some areas around here.

Of course, they said it was going to snow all day Wednesday -- it didn't. They said it wasn't going to snow all day Thursday -- it did. Maybe it'll be 80 tomorrow?

I don't see the photo in the original post (or any indication that there might be a photo there.

If I click the link that Jon provided, I see a white screen (the snowflake in a blizzard that Wool referenced the other day) but no image.

That's what I saw. And if I click on the link in my post, I get that. BUT if I select the text (and white space above it) from the original post, do a "View Source", copy the URL, and paste that into a browser window I can see it. And while that's active, I can see the photo everywhere it should be, too.

Costco? This close before Christmas? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Ahem... sorry. That was rude of me :-D

But in all seriousness - there is no way I would go to Costco this time of year :-D

I can't see the photo in FF, not on the forum or if I click the link. I wonder... CMYK and not sRGB?
If I use IE I see it just fine... really weird!

We were there earlier today. All the snow really kept the crowds down. The store was much emptier than a normal weekday.

One note on the frames - be careful of the stuff that gets installed with some of it. There was another alert today about a Samsung (? I think) one that comes with a virus as part of it's installation, and last year there were a number that had the frames themselves infected with something, so the moment you connected the USB cable they tried to do their evil.

For some reason I can't see the photo in your post, but if I copy the link (from the source code), I can.

I love idiots....the cable tech tried to tell me that my computer couldn't connect to the internet because I have Vista....specifically Vista with Windows update enabled. Threw him for a loop when my XP laptops wouldn't connect either. After hours of frustration....it turns out the problem wasn't here at all...but with Charter's equipment that serves this part of the county...seems they had 700 customers that couldn't renew their IP addresses correctly...the old address wasn't being released.

They never know what they are doing... I love calling them after I have done their little 'scripted' list of what nots to do... then they tell me to do this that or the other.... and I get to tell them I've already done it! ;) hehehehehe

My parents brought that back with them from China. Part of their trip took them through a silk factory.

I took over 200 shots during the hour that Santa was there -- culled 70+ for expressions and the like, and still had the 137 for all the kids, parents, and grandparents who where there. :D My flash earned some time off. ;)

I did not take that many.... But It wasn't a family thing either.... it was a bunch of snot nosed kids....

Well...the good news is that I have a full speed 10 meg connection again. Even if their techs are idiots. It only took 700 customers to convince them the problem might be on their end.

It only hurts if you get your fingers between the bricks.
