Have a good time storming the castle. Remember, take some water. Rioting is thirsty business.

:lol::lol: that is seriously funny!

Have fun Chief. If you need bail money, I'll give you T.D.'s phone number.

According to my ex... whom I would've liked to have seen tased.... he only screamed like a little girl briefly.... :rolleyes: When you get certified to carry a taser you have to be on the receiving end! :shock:

Yeah - I've seen videos of my friends at the local PD get tased... I don't want to try it...

They also showed the pepper spray training - nasty stuff!

Ok, I'm winging it here...someone (Scott) will correct me, I'm sure.

But sync speed is the maximum speed your shutter can move. When your flash fires at the same speed, you'll get full flash. Otherwise you'll end up with black bars or it won't even fire because you are exceeding the maximum capability of the shutter.

Jon wrote in post #6914873 (external link)
Basically, your shutter is two curtains moving over the sensor. The first curtain uncovers the sensor. The second one follows the first by whatever your shutter speed was and covers it up again. Since the duration of your flash is only around 1/1000 sec. or less, it has to fire when the entire sensor is uncovered or you'll get a picture of the size of the shutter gap. So sync speed is the fastest shutter speed where the flash will be "seen" by the whole sensor.

I was going to offer my explanation, but Jon pretty much beat me to it...

Flash is a tough thing to master. I know I'm a long way from getting it. I also figured that you were in cramped quarters, making it much more difficult to try to use the sort of technique he was using. In some situations, though, you will be able to. It doesn't happen the first time you try it, but it will happen with practice. Just like all of photography -- practice matters.

It took me three tries to get what I was looking for in that fill flash example I posted the other day. I think there might have been a couple of others I deleted as I was experimenting with the output of the flash to get just the look I wanted.

:lol::lol::lol:

Afternoon Moooooo, all.

The snow started again in earnest about an hour ago. It took me 30 minutes to get home from Starbucks -- only about 2 miles away. :cry: The roads were clear. Just too many mall shoppers trying to flee the area now that the snow's started up again.
