After seeing the results here and listening to some advice, I decided to try some stacking software. I got Registax and tried it out this weekend. I am having trouble learning to use to properly seeing how the readme download was in a font that my adobe could not read so I am just pushing buttons and seeing what happens. Have not figured out how to do darks yet, seems they only want bitmaps for dark! Anyway here is my fist stack from a couple of shots this weekend which was a short session as the clouds rolled in and only allowed me 45 minutes of shooting.

Camera 5D, ISO 200, TV 240sec. (approx), AV 5.0, Lens 24-70mm @ 46mm, no filters, total of six images, total exposure 23.8 minutes, First image with only Elements processing, Second image with Registax processing included.

Great job. Have you tried Deep sky stacker? It's free and I've heard much more user friendly and fairly popular with amateur deep sky imagers.

I haven't used it personally but worth a try.

Thanks Nighthound. I might give that a try. Registax has a steep learning curve. Maybe something a bit more user-friendly would help.
