Went shooting for few hours this sunday with my bro, here are few shots! I still tend to frame my subject dead center, I'm trying to stop that!

Please CC these, I need all the feedback I can get to get ready for my solo wedding in about 2 months!

I think that you are off to a good shot. I really liked the shots here. I'm not a wedding shooter, but to me it looked like you might want to tweak your white balance settings. A couple seemed awfully warm to me. I thought the composition was good which, to me, is the important thing. You will slowly get better at PP, but if you have no knack for composition then you will probably not get anywhere. Keep shooting!

Yeah, the cast is slightly yellow in all of the indoor shots.

in many orthodox christian religions there is a crown placed on the heads of the bride and groom during the ceremony, they are taken off and put on the others head and usually tied together by some material.

the crowns are placed on the bride and groom’s heads as the following prayer is recited three times, “The servant of God, (groom’s name), is crowned to the handmaid of God, (bride’s name), in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” three times. It is then repeated three times as the bride is crowned to the groom. We witness the groom and bride being crowned (visibly proclaimed) as the king and queen, respectively, of a new family, entrusted by God with the authority to rule their family in faith and love and harmony with Christ. They both share in this responsibility and privilege as a newly married couple. This is not simply being declared by the priest or even the Church, but by God Himself, as the following hymn is chanted three times: “O Lord, our God, crown them with glory and honor.” The crowns are then switched back and forth between the groom and bride’s head, signifying that they completely share their lives together.

The crowns also serve as a reminder of the crowns that await them in heaven, if they live their lives in faithfulness to God and each other

good overall, I didn't think the WB was that far off, # 6 maybe I would have stopped way down to get everyone in focus, if lighting would allow...

Interesting stuff! Thanks for the explanation! It is fascinating to see how different cultures do weddings. I've done brides and grooms jumping the broom and also the groom stomping the glass, but never the crowns... ;)

Ok, on to the photos. They're not bad. Shot of the church is nice. The rest could be helped with a shallower DOF. The background is really busy and distracts from what you're trying to show, such as the candles. I could see that shot with an extremely shallow DOF so that the middle candles are sharp and both sides are OOF. Just a suggestion. Other photos would have benefitted as well, because of all of the photos (?) on the walls behind the people. Maybe a higher viewpoint would have helped?

I've been asked for critique.

1. It's a church. Nice record shot.
2. Good basic shot, good control of DOF
3. Nice detail shot. Try B&W.
4. Not liking the angle, but nice record shot.
5. Bit blurry? Not liking shooting from behind them, but sometimes it can't be helped.
6. Solid.
7. Interesting color. Nice detail shot.
8. Meh.

Overall they're decent enough for church shots. What makes a photographer stand out is what they do when they're in control, not when they're observing quietly.

First of all, to be satisfied with your work, make sure you see your pictures right. You have to calibrate your monitor because as mentioned above, your colors are off!. Great set overall Yuriy. I am sure you'll do fine going solo. Just need little adjustments to make them shine. Ask your brother for some tips!;)
PS: hope you don't mind me taking the freedom to tweak some of these!
