Beautiful shot, Mo.

I just got home from the concert. Instead of a full orchestra, there was a small group of musicians: a pianist, 2 violinists, 1 violist, 1 cellist and 1 horn. It was sad, but the orchestra is trying to save money by sacrificing this concert for the Magic Flute in April. There just isn't enough money to go around to pay the musicians right now. Sad, huh?

Then I went out in the hall to see what merchandise they had to sell to raise money. There, in full color, was my picture of the orchestra taken a year ago on full size posters and tee-shirts! I was so excited. Of course, they have all the rights and I have nothing, but it sure was fun to see it. Makes me feel good I helped them in my little way.

I bought only one poster, I already put $20 in the donation bin. The truth is, the pictures I take are pretty good and I love that the orchestra uses them. Last night another board member's wife with a D300 took candid shots. I'm glad she did that because my back was killing me. She does a good job and is shooting semi-pro now, due to me telling her to buy the D300 in the first place. She had a D something (prosumer model) when we met, which was not very good for her low light situations, like what we had last night. She had miserable noise. So, now it's 3 people I talked to just casually about upgrading and they are now semi-pros. WOW.

Oh, and my friend did buy my 5D from me. I'm delivering it to her today. She's going to be so happy. I saved everything, including the manuals, papers, cords, everything, except the quick cheat thing. I lost that the first week.

It has been gloomy and rainy here as well but I put Sophie (7 weeks old) in front of my sliding glass door and played around with the settings. I also bought some new actions called All in the Details that I used to process them.

Goofing off is so fun!!

Some of the photos are here::D

I don't brag much, as you know.

I got a very nice letter on Thursday from the Adoption place in Fairfax thanking me for the images. Did you get one?

I just got a Ted Montana's Grill gift card in the mail for $75 from a friend I did a family photo session for a week ago. She had both her sons, her daughter-in-laws, three grand babies, and three dogs all together for the first time ever :) I was priviledged to take the family portraits. First a group session of all and then one session for each couple with their dogs and kids :)

I am going to take Elaine there as part of our 45th Anniversary celebration. I also have a $200 gift card to Ruth's Chris Steak House I got late year for another photo shoot. We will use that one on our Anniversary day :) Hard to believe that Elaine and I will be married 45 years in nine days time :)

Yes. This time we'll have to have them do a nice backdrop for us somewhere in the building. With all the windows and such, it was hard to get good lighting. I'll definitely bring my 2 light stands with the ST-E2 so we don't get glare.

Congrats on the 45th! Wow, we're on 27 this year and I thought we were doing pretty good. Oh, my sweet husband was not too pleased I bought my new camera without getting the money first. I told him it was just a week in time since I'm getting the money for the 5D Monday. But I think he realizes that I don't really buy much, just one big thing a year. I thought I was done until I got some request for high resolution shots. The 5D is fine, but I really wanted to get the most so they can blow up the images to poster size if needed. And I know I could have been fine with an XT, but I am a high quality girl, and so, I like to be up on the gear as well. I don't buy diamonds and furs, just camera equipment and that makes me very happy.
