Man, all this talk of the economy and job losses are really getting me down! On an up note, the low housing prices made it affordable for my son to buy his first home this week.
I hope our government gets some of this mess ironed out soon and at least get us back on track in the right direction.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Yeah it really is a shame, but our school district is so bad off right now it's pathetic. They have to close school earlier in the year than normal because there is no money to keep it running. I'll tell you what though....It is absolutely amazing to see where money has been spent foolishly and believe me I could list many stupid stupid stupid places. It makes me mad because the kids are the ones that will lose out and it's not their fault.

I'm with you, Kathy. You want to see "stupid" spending take a lap through the pending stimulus bill...it is appalling!

I hear you, Maureen. But, I am unconvinced that the Government can fix anything...much less a badly broken economy...look at their track record over the past 100 years!

I am convinced the government is trying, but people have to realize, we made our own mess. We all closed our eyes to bad behavior and greed, so we need to fix our own thinking. I am willing to spend money wisely to stimulate the economy and to volunteer more to help those who can't do the work themselves.

The HOA meeting last night was good. We got everything approved and I think the residents are happy we are being real about the budget. No parties or picnics or extras this year.

I just signed up for the organization Maureen talked about above. Should hear from them in a few weeks. I love the images posted there. They are really good photographers. I'm hoping I can add to the community here with my work.

Good for you, Suzy. I'm not sure that I could do that...I would like for you to share your experience when you do your first assignment.

Well, you know we lost a baby at birth almost 16 years ago. I was grateful I had film in my AE-1 Program and the lighting was good in the birthing room. We also had a 8mm camcorder. My husband took most of the pictures, I snapped a few lying in the bed. It wasn't planned like that, but at least we had the gear. It's a gift to be a photographer. Even 16 years ago, I had the best gear possible for any enthusiast. Seeing the images in their pamphlets alone, they do excellent work. I can only imagine Maureen doing that work with the greatest of sensitivity and love. I hope to get started, helping a pro and then doing that myself. I have no trouble helping, just wish I had more time and talent.

Jim, have I ever told you how much I enjoy meeting up with you? With all the craziness in the world, you and Jon are really great friends to me. I have a lot of gratitude today as my life seems to be moving forward faster than I keep up with. Taking a gratitude day, I guess. I just wanted you to know that your friendship means a lot to me. It's always fun to speak Canon with someone.

Elaine and I lost our first to a miscarriage at six months in 1967...we were at Fort Belvoir at the time. I really do admire you (and Maureen too) for having the courage to do this.

Likewise for sure! You are my mentor and I wouldn't be where I am today with my Wedding photography without your tutoring :) Looking forward to Saturday...Elaine is going to bring the kids to see the show. Where shall we meet up?

I think I will see you there. Just don't know the exact time. I have your number. I have a math competition and it ends around 1:30, but my family is also coming and you know how much my husband loves to wait. I may have them stay upstairs, but I'm not sure. I will let them bring a book and their DS's to occupy them in case they are bored. I will bring my 5DII, 24-70, 70-200 2.8 IS and that's it. I may bring a flash, but I doubt it.

Good morning everyone... Wow this thread is getting deep - but in a good way. I also admire you, Maureen, for what you do. That is truly, well, I cant think of the right word right now - but it is very kind.

Suzie, you are passing that gratitude onto me now hahaha. It was a pleasure meeting with you in Denver last May. I really respect what you do as well - very cool.
