It's 5 a.m. and I can't sleep anymore. We tried to stay focused last night, but it got too late. Today we fly to the Big Island and it's 3 days there with rain and sunsets and volcanos and helicopters and some snorkling . . . . Don't feel sorry for us.

Tom, I have at least one glass of soy milk when I get up. It's what I do because I need the nutrition and I eat a good breakfast, mainly leftovers or 1/2 serving of carbs and some protein. I rarely eat a bowl of cereal as the milk makes my stomach hurt. If I don't eat breakfast, my day drags. And since I spent a few days with Maureen, I've been steadily feeling stronger and clothes fit better because I'm not sitting around. I walk everywhere. And my back hasn't hurt this week, yet. I haven't taken even one pain pill. But that may change if we hike tomorrow.

Morning, Jim and all! I miss you guys, but I'm almost sold on buying a condo here. It's so beautiful. Even the shadier parts of Oahu have flowering trees everywhere. Dan promises me some ripe lychee nuts this week. I can't wait! The wedding industry is big here. I can pay my own way if I wanted to. :)

I love Hawaii, but somehow, I think it would have been even nicer maybe 50 years ago. It is always sad to see development in such lovely areas.

Come to think of it, my first trip to Hawaii was 49 years ago, but that was in the Navy. I never got outside Oahu, and the seedier areas at that. I had no idea what a beautiful place it is till we went there as tourists in 1972.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

The Big Island is my favorite, Suzie. Try looking into a 2 week time share...it is a LOT cheaper than buying a million dollar condo. Think about how much actual time you will have to spend there.

IT'S SO HOT HERE! I know, I know you Californians will beat me at the high temps but damn this is uncomfortable! Our AC decided to have a massive failure yesterday and it won't be fixed until next Tuesday! I took Marley to the baby pool today and got in it myself.

Heat that you are not used to is really uncomfortable...thank goodness for any kind of pool;)

We are going to have a cool down this next week, upper 90's! It hasn't been too awful tho, 100-104 is really better than the 112 we were having.

I don't mind the heat when I have a place to go to get away from it, but without the AC it's miserable! It's cooled down to 91 tonight:rolleyes: I think I am going to sleep in the yard, possibly with the sprinkler on me! Our house is well insulated so we didn't realize that the AC wasn't working until it was already too late to get someone out here this week to fix it. It's so hot now the cats are laying in the bathtub. Even my reptile husband is complaining!

I have a wedding this weekend and I am hoping it will be cooler there than here. The place is right on a river and very well shaded.

Lots of Gatoraid for me, unless someone has a better suggestion for hot weather working.

I bought Aaron some little mister fans and key chain fans that work pretty well. Try Wal-Mart :)

Good Morning Suzie, Tom, Mo, and Kathy :) Good Morning, All.

Suzie...sounds like you have fallen in love with Hawaii? My first trip there was in FEB 1971 to meet Elaine on R&R from Vietnam. It was beyond wonderful then but I was viewing things through "rose colored glasses!" We had a week together after being apart for 8 months...if memory serves we didn't do a lot of touring that trip :D Had "other" things on our agenda :o

Keep having a wonderful time and keep posting photos...it does bring back lots of fond memories.

Lois and I were married in January, 1962. Three days after we were 'hitched,' I left on a 6-month WESTPAC cruise. I didn't see her again until mid-July. Needless to say, we had a lot of unfinished business, mostly relating to our honeymoon.

Hawaii is a magical place in many ways. Suzie's trip has me thinking we should do it again soon before we completely run out of money. Last I heard, you can't hitch hike to Hawaii.

Sunset on the Big Island last night with my Greg on the side, refusing to get out of my shot. Amazing how he always finds his way into my shots lately. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention to him?

Yes, I know I should crop out the side, but I was in a hurry. Akaka Falls, I think. I was a walking zombie as I just ate at the best Thai place in Hawaii. And the red flower is one of many that was all over this rain forest. So beautiful, and rain just comes down all day long.

And the sunrise here in Kona just about 1 hour ago:

From the 6th floor hallway windows. I couldn't find a better spot.

Going to running around Kona today and off to Hilo tomorrow. The adventure of the luggage was interesting. Maybe later.

Have a great day!

Suzie,

Love the sunsets (Greg included) :) Keep posting these...I'm loving them!

I just came in from an hour of watching everyone swimming in the 3 pools on the beach. Really warm water, but lots of sun, so I'm in this time. The maid is here so I'll be working until she is done.

Thanks, Jim. I'm loving it, but it is a little hot. They've all gone snorkeling and I'm here doing a little work for my big pay check. :) It's been a wonderful day, though. How are all of you?

I love Akaka Falls...have been there many times:) If you go north from Kona up the Kameamea Hwy (or whatever it is named) to where the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter place is, turn left towards the Waikoloa Hilton. About 1/2 mile in, turn left and follow the road to the beach. There are TONS of sea turtles that you can snorkle with and many come up onto the beach to sleep. SO awesome! One of Hawaii's best kept secrets..I rarely see more than 5 people there every time I go.

Kathy, 104 in Portland!!!!!!! Poor thing.... that is miserable weather for you guys up in the PCNW.

We are getting a touch of the southern monsoons that sweep through Mexico and Arizona this time of year. It has brought our temps down to 98-99 but the humidity is 60%! Miserable for us who are used to the dry heat.:(

Yes, it's HOT here! We did get a bit of a thunder & lightening storm with a few drops of rain and it cooled it down a little. I should have known all I needed to do was wash my pickup and it would rain!

I did a newborn shoot tonight. This baby girl was sooooooo red and blotchy, it is going to be a PS nightmare.

Tomorrow morning at 7:00 I am shooting the swim team then off to Portland for a wedding! I am really looking forward to getting away for a few days, even if it is to work.:)
