I'm around -6.5 which is bad enough - without my contacts the world disappears after about 8" - having that happen at under 6" sounds really bad. About the only "advantage" to it would be doing real close-up (not photo-type) work.

Even the eye doctor laughs at me when I am trying to read or do anything without my contacts, I have to hold things about 2" away for them to be clear, and a magazine is unreadable at 3-4". But I have lived with it for a long timenow, and I'm just used to it, I just keep my contacts in until literally about 30sec before I go to bed, and I put them in as soon as I'm awake, they are even in my room because I don't even like to try and walk to the bathroom without them. Right now I can't even get LASIK because of my prescription, but I'm hoping in the next few years things will imrpove and I will have the money to get it done.

The funny thing is, for as bad as my eyesight was for all my life, I always found reading easier without my glasses. While most people my age were becoming increasingly presbyopic, my reading eyesight was getting better and better....

....until a couple years ago, and now I'm just like everyone else my age (arms not long enough). It's all fixable with glasses, though, so I really have no complaints.

Hi, I'm back from Costco and the eye doctor and lunch by myself at Red Lobster. It's my day to do stuff for me. Yes, my my eyes have gotten slightly worse, but nothing worth buying another pair of glasses, but I did anyway. I got bifocals, progressives, of course, with the coating thing, and with the light thing changing (I love technical terms), and after charging $245, I pick them up next week some time. Costco is by far the cheapest and the best service. The man who took care of my prescription is actually an optician and knew exactly what he was doing. Well done, Costco, again. I've priced glasses at other places, and what I ordered would be twice the price. The frame selection is not bad either.

And my goodness, you guys all have terrible eyes! I have an astigmatism (did I spell that right?) and my left eye is a lot weaker than my right and I see different WB from one eye to the other. I had no idea my eyes need PP. :)

I have 20-20 vision. I used to wear glasses from age 10 t age 40. Then my eye muscles did the mid-life thingy and my vision repaired itself.

Weird, huh?

Tom, I didn't sleep worth a diddle. Reminds me of the nights you jumped on POTN to chat with me :)

I slept like a rock after taking a Tylenol PM, but it took an hour to work last night. Today I have a dull pain, so it's Advil PM for me tonight. I'm so tired. So much going on and I finally got the video to stream into my laptop so it's all on a DVD ready to work on the next two days.

so anyone here going to PhotoPlus? I posted in the another thread and only got to PM's about it... I'm surprised more are not talking about it...

I'll be staying in NJ this year and excited about that, since I have some things to check out in upstate NY,and a friend to visit in NJ. how fun!

So I'll be getting together some people and I think we may meet at a place called the "upstairs" so we will see.

I'm beat, got to go watch my shows...it's that time of the year YES!!!

Howdy all. Been a while. Between weddings, putting an (IMO) absurdly large deck on the house, my daughter's first birthday, and recovering/cleaning up from absurdly large deck construction, I haven't had too much time for interweb fun.

Katherine turned 1 a little under a month ago and is now walking around. She's napping a little more than before (thankfully) so I get a little bit of time to rest while she's down.

Well, I'd like to come, but I suspect I'm getting my hair done that day.

Has it been a year already? Yikes. I remember when she was born.

FWIW, she doesn't look anything like a lizard.

Yup, it's been a year. Fastest year of my life.

She may not look like a lizard, but sometimes I swear she moves about as quickly as one. Especially when she's headed somewhere she's not supposed to go.
