You have pictures of that, I trust? :{)#

LOL I sure wish I did, oh how I wish I did....BUT!:lol: There was stuff flying around everywhere, my camera was securely tucked against my body and I was catching glimpses of what was going on in between scrapping my hair off my face! I ended up with a minor case of "ear full of sand" and my assistant, who was wearing a skirt, ended up with a major case of "I can't believe my skirt was up around my waist":lol::lol: From what I COULD see, it looked like it would have been some awesome pictures but I just wasn't up for ruining my gear.:(

Wow, I didn't realize sand went flying, too. Your poor assistant. :( I'd be so embarrassed. That's why I wear black pants.

It was incredible to watch, well what I could see anyway! The sand was from a volleyball pit that was in between where the helicopter landed and the ceremony site.

I need to go for a power walk....it is getting dark earlier and earlier but it is still 102 outside. UGH. I guess I'll put on a damp bandana and just go for it

And that's why some of us have filters on everything. We expect helicopters to drop in at any time. :{)#

There are some advantages having your wedding reception at Mount Vernon. We had a Colonial escort :)

And, when we stopped at the park for candids...the sun was fierce!

I hear you about that sun, Jim. I always end up shooting into as luck would have it.

Love the Colonial attendants, :)

The wedding I attended/shot yesterday was to date the most wonderful wedding I have ever worked at. They called the bride "Bridechilla" instead of "Bridezilla" because she was sooooo easy going, relaxed and extremely happy about everything. Her family all have had some sort of "river" jobs for the rafting places around Maupin so she chose to have her wedding right on the river, where she arrived by raft in her gown, it was great! It's almost always windy on that area of river so she was already expecting small problems because of it...HAHAHAHA! What she was not counting on was an Air Life helicopter landing 50 feet from her ceremony site! It blew EVERYTHING away! The glass vases on all the tables even went flying! You would think this would be enough to bring a bride to her knees in hysterical tears.....NOT HER.... she was literally rolling in the grass with tears of laughter, then she jumped up, threw her arms up in a victory sign and yelled..."This is SOOooooooo wonderful, I wanted my wedding day to be special and THAT just made it perfect!

BTW the Air Life helicopter was there for some sort of public education thing, not because anyone was hurt.

EVERYTHING about yesterdays wedding was fun!

That's so awesome! It's nice to have a laid back bride...

It is awesome! She restored my faith that it is possible to have a good time on your wedding day and that couples really can be cheery and just enjoy their celebration.

It's funny, but I've been to so many weddings where the emphasis is not the marriage, but the wedding itself. It's almost like show business in a way, and it's so sad to see more emphasis placed on the wardrobe and menu than the ramifications of what (hopefully) will be a lifelong union. I don't necessarily hold myself forth as any sort of ideal, but I do note with some irony that my wife and I decided on very short notice to get married. There were only a handful of family and guests attending. The catering was really more of a pot luck dinner, and my aunt made the wedding cake (probably from a mix). Mom was the photographer.

What made it work for us was that Lois and I were madly in love, and went into our life together with absolute commitment to each other, and not so much as even a thought of things not working out. We knew with absolute certainty that we would be together for the rest of our lives. Period. That's been our attitude ever since. The wedding had absolutely nothing to do with it. It was all us.

Tom,

I'm with you. Elaine and I were married by the local Judge 45 years ago. We had three witnesses. After the ceremony we all went to lunch at a nearby restaurant for a quick lunch. Then I went to work and Elaine went back to school (Ga St Univ) for afternoon classes. Commitment is what it is all about. Marry your best friend and your marriage will last a lifetime :)

Well, I can't agree completely. The wedding was important for us. Our families are large, 8 kids in each of our families. If we had left anyone out, I think we would have missed a lot. We practically eloped with our parents and siblings. It was very inexpensive, but happy. Even my father loved my husband from the beginning. And we were really young. Maybe too young. But we've been together now for 27 years and still we are having fun and enjoying the kids. We are very blessed. Yes, the commitment thing is the most important. I don't see a lot of that on t.v. these days. :(
