It was ridiculously cold, we're talking Wisconsin in January here, and they were still shooting. Interestingly, the new Nikons that had just been released were freezing up horribly and had to be swapped out while the pro's with the 1D MkIII's kept on clicking. That was the kicker for me to go Canon. I can't remember where the article was though. I remember that article as well. There seemed to be an issue with some D3s which caused them to freak out in the cold. My friend's D3 would fail to access memory cards in the cold and it progressively got worse. It was replaced and the new one has been fine. It was not a commonly reported issue so I don't know how widespread it was. Eagle wrote in post #6580017 Just keep your gear in your bag, take it out to shoot, then return it to the bag. Leave your bag closed upon going indoors for at least a half hour. Pretty much all I do in our near, at or below freezing conditions. I just leave things in the bag when I get back long enough that they hopefully come up to temperature without condensation. http://www.colorblindedphoto.com

I shoot Snowcross all winter and don't do anything special. Save for putting the camera back in my camera bag at the end of the day, and waiting a couple of hours to take it out. Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe
