There is an actually battery store very close to my home. They sell a rechargable double A pack of 4 for right at $15.00. I think they are called Power Max with a Nimh, think that's right, of 2700. They also have a special charger that does everything under the sun, breaks batteries in, slow charges them, fast charges them, tells you how much life you have left in them, basically everything you need to know about the battery. The Power Max charge sells for $69.00 and will work with any rechargeable battery. They do use the charger at the store as he showed me a little of how it works.

Does this sound to high, or are there other avenues I should look into that might save me money and give me the most out of the rechargable battery? I am going through double A's light crazy with two speed lights. Thanks for any info. Don

Do you use your flashes a lot? (like every day?) if not all that often it might be worth getting sanyo eneloops (costco has a pack of 6 with some aaa's)...

Anyway, I've got those in everything now and they last forever... I use my flashes every now and then (probably a dozen or so times a month) and only charge them about once a month.. or longer..

Go look at www.Thomasdistributing.com (external link) for Maha charger and battery combination packages.

the Maha 204 has gotten very good reviews. Sanyo or Powerex NiMH batteries are very well regarded, Imedion or Eneloop low discharge NiMH are also very well regarded.

That is what they were Powerex NiMH 2700. The charger was the state of the art big one with all the lights and bells for $69.00. I really don't think I would need all of that stuff it has to offer. The white charger looks like it would do everything I would need for half of what the big one costs.

Powerex makes awesome batteries. I've tried many brands but the powerex have definitely been the kings for me.

The top of the line charger, the C9000 could actually save you money. It can recondition batteries so you don't have to throw them out nearly as often, and keeps them performing at it's peak. Wishy-washy batteries cause nothing but frustration. The C9000 also is the only Maha/PowerEx charger that has the Break-In procedure which is very different from regular charge/discharge/charge cycle conditioning. It actually slow forces a full charge into a battery that "wakes up" underperforming or inactive cells and brings them back to life.

so I'd say the C9000 is totally worth the extra cash. It'll save you money on battery replacement, and let you get the most out of your current batteries.
