One of the debatable issues with P&S shooting is the time it takes to obtain focus of your subject to actual shutter actuation, at least in comparison to a DSLR. This makes capturing kids in motion rather difficult.

Just noticed that the G10 (and probably earlier G incarnations) has a Continuous Focus mode. This could effectively negate at least the time it takes to achieve and lock focus before shutter actuation.

Has anybody done some experimenting with this mode? How well does it keep moving subjects in focus and how fast does it adjust?

Hmm, using it from time to time for wildlife pictures with my G9.
As with all focus related things it depends on the light conditions. If they are ok, the continous focus works reliably well. If not, it's so so...
