Selling Digital Images?

I shot a 5K run and agreed to donate profits from the sale of those pictures to a charity which has worked great.

Someone wants to buy a digital image for use on their personal website. How do I determine how much to sell it for?

The images were not anything I'm particularly tied to but I don't want to devalue professional photography by just giving it away!

I will appreciate any help you might offer!

Check websites of local photographers in your area for comparison prices. For one image on someone's personal site, I'd probably price it between $19.95 and $29.95.

Emphasise the charity aspect and call it $50.

I charge $18 for a digital file for personal use like that (higher than web resolution, too).

But if someone also places a significant print order I often will just give them a web ready file at low resolution.

Be sure to edit the EXIF data and add your copyright and contact info to the file, though.
