Take it.....

There is more then enough knowledge here to help you too bro. Find out what you will be shooting then ask the pros here what the bare minimums you would need. Take it, you will be happy! Sides, if they come out bad, you can always shoot over, and shoot in RAW.....

Get an external flash off Ebay, and preferably one tht works on an EOS series as if you plan on upgrading like I am, you won't have to buy **** all over. I'm getting the 550EX flash....

Try to bounce off the ceiling and go from there...

Do they think you are a pro, or you just offered your services? Let them know you will do this basically pro-bono and they buy the pics they like, with no strings attached. Taking a bite in the ass now, will be better in the long run as I'm sure they would recomend you to others, not to mention you get to add them to ur list of gigs...

Good luck and let us know what happens with this.

420 EX is a cheaper (about $180 online) alternative to the expensive 550EX.

I would also keep an eye out for a refurbished Canon 420EX. I stumbled onto one at B&H Photo and was able to purchase it for $139.95 with a 90-day warranty. It works great and the price is less than used ones are going for on eBay.

I love my PowerShot Pro1....did several successful wedding shoots with it and a very important family reunion. I have the 420Ex as well and I have been very happy with both their performances! Play around with it for a while and you'll find it is fun & easy to use.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.
