I have been taking some shots of my son and trying to get the best ones I can. Just curious to know how everyone thinks I am doing. Thanks in advance!

#1-shot this at a friends wedding. Happened to notice the pose and could not pass it up.

#2-I really like this shot for some reason, even if he is not looking at the camera. Am I crazy?

#3-Another shot, basically the same situation as above

#4-In the house. He's watching mom get ready.

Your model is adorable, but I'll be honest, the composition is lacking and exposure seems off in all of them. I think your focal points look pretty good, so you've got that going...keep practicing, you'll get there. ;) We all started somewhere, and I am not trying to be mean, just trying to help you as others did to me. You've got a terribly cute model to practice with. Have fun!

I agree, work on setting up the shots as best as you can with a little one. Clear out some space and make sure you don't have things pop into the frame you don't want like the table in the last shot.

Try to be as objective as you can when looking at your pictures. It's tough when the subject is your little one. I have tons of pictures on my hard drive I just can't delete because they are of my kids.

When you can frame up your shots move on to getting the exposure you want and play around with the lighting. Buying the camera is only the very beginning, you have lots of practice ahead of you :)

I'm in the same state as you are. Learning as much as I can and reading everything I can from those who know. Excellent advice from "solinger".

#3 is the best I think, but his legs are cut off. :(
