Can someone recommend something inexpensive so that a simple Canon point-n-shoot camera without hot-shoe can trigger a remote flash (something on the other side of the room)?

I want to let my wife and daughter get better (brighter) photos from their point-n-shoot during the upcoming at home get-together during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks in advanced.

A number of companies make slaves for digital cameras. You may also want to look at things like Wein's digital slaves (external link). If the price makes you jump, remember, you can use them with your EOS cameras and the 430EX/580EX as well.

This is my econo setup. I bought the used vivitar 2800 flash at a second hand store(8$), purchased the flash slave trigger thing(12$ on ebay)...the small box with the glass eye, I had the black bar to mount it from something else, bought the tripod at the local discount store for (10$)

I can mount the camera to the black bar or the tripod, it makes a difference when shooting indoors....more light seems to be everybody's friend.
