The subject and the processing looks like something from the 1800's. Great shot.

Very nice processing...

Now did you do the entire engine this way as well?

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

I think they only run the steam one during certain times of the year. Memorial thru Labor day. Might have changed

The new owners did away with the steam completely, a big loss for lots of people!~ Glad I shot it myself in 9/2006.

I didn't even think of getting the whole thing like this. I do have a few over all shots. But now that you mentioned it. I should have shot the entire engine and stitched them together. With the brick walkway it would have been very easy to maintain the same distance on every image.

The almost symetrical aspect of this area of the engine is what grabbed me for this shot. The two wheels.... but the arm goes only to the left, The things over the wheels are not quite even, the bumps on top are not quite equal.... At first glance it looks like a mirror image, But the more you look at it the more you see if is not even close to a mirror image.

Thanks for the comments on the "ageing". I have never tried to make an image look this distressed, and was happy with the result.

The way you burned the edges cries out for a whole series framed up and hung side by side showing the entire engine!!

Ah well, next time, right? ;)

You mean a set of separate images rather than 1 stitched? that is a cool Idea. OK, I am ready to fly back and re-shoot!

Yup...

I was litterally thinking separate frame for each image hung side by side to make a pseudo pano...

(I know, waaaay outside the box but what the heck...right?) ;)

that is a good processing job although it would have been cool if the train was shot from the front rather then the side.

I thought of the front but it was not overly interesting. Well at least not to me.
