Focus racked all the way out maybe?

It was really my first time extensively using AF Servo, so I had some tracking misfocusing, but nothing weird with focus other than that. Overall, most of the camera performed well enough, except for that weird part. I wouldn't have posted this at all, but I do remember seeing someone with a very similar problem awhile back, and that's what I instantly thought of while I was reviewing the shots at the time. I can't seem to find that thread though, and I don't remember if it was with a 1D series or something else.

Ah so now it's clear. Yeah I would say unless something moved in between your camera and where you had it focused, then the camera may have shifted focus. Might be possible to tell depending on the sequence of images.

I've had a shot like this before where it's completely gray.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the mirror or shutter curtains, and not the sensor.
