Outstanding shot, first try or 50th. Looks like your northern skies are nice and dark.

Welcome to the astro section.

Excellent, I never tire of great star trails shots, and that's definitely a great one. :)

Thank you both for the nice comments, I am looking forward to trying out my astro-trac with a longer lens for some deep space shots, once I have played with it and feel comfortable setting it up . All this new equipment and a whole lot of reading again.I know I will never achieve Nighthounds level but its a start. By the way, Thanks to all that have managed to have this Astronomical site up and running. I am mostly found cruising the Bird forum, but this has my full attention right now. Many Thanks

Thanks Celestron, your work always inspires me. and thanks bowtie, I was very pleased with my first attempt. I did have other static shots of the heavens but forgot to bump up the iso and did not get the results I was looking for. Oh well, thats what this is all about isn't it, learn and move on.

Sorry For the missing exif, I resized this to upload to the forum. It was shot with a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens on a manfrotto 055 tripod.Camera was a 30D set on Bulb with I think about a 12-15 minute exposure, ISO 100, @3.5 of course a remote was used. It was wickedly cold night -4.0. It was taken on the shores of Lake Ontario, with the wind howling, I was in the car with the remote cable hanging out the window. Can you tell me how to keep the info/exif intact when I upload.I use (jpeg sizer) for the upload and emailing my photos, could this be the problem. Thanks Douglas
