I MADE ONE! Well, if you saw my last post, you know that i have a problem with lighting, so i made a light box! So here it is. Let me start by saying that i know that the noise is ridiculously high in all of them, because i usually forget to check my ISO, but here they are!

Very cool idea. Damn, wish I would've seen this before I spent 99 bucks on one. Good job.:)

Canon 40D/2-kit lenses - EF 28-135 1:3.5-5.6....EF 70-300 1:4-5.6 and a 85 1.8..........No flash, no grip, cheap tripod and cheap mono. I'm new to photography and I'm here to learn as much as I can. First question.............why are a couple of new lenses gonna cost me more than my first car did?:p

If you're posting here, you should be looking for comment and criticism on your photos. Is that what you're doing? If so, then I think you should watch your white balance to ensure a pure white background. You can adjust in post, too. If not, then this post belongs somewhere else in the forum.

Looks like my light box.

I was using a desk lamp, too. I had to modify on the computer using levels. I took one of your photos for modification. I saw you turned on your Image Editing OK. Watch your shadows... You clipped it in the lower left corner.

Also, play around with the light... you can light all three panels at once or two or just one... they will give different effects. You can also introduce a light from the front, too, to create fill

They are a great DIY project that produces great product pictures.

Here's a pic of the results:

how did you put it in the lower left corner, i dont see how you could have cropped it, because it almost filled the whole picture (oops) so i guess dont understand how you gave it more white background, obviously you changed the levels, but the doesnt affect the size of the background or placement of the ball.

oh... I just picked it up and threw it in the corner...

jk... once i changed the levels to create a pure white background, i can just expand the canvas and paint the rest of it white. white on white is... well, white.

but just a suggestion/question, could you use the pen tool to deselect the ball and its shadow and then change the levels so that you keep the color of the ball but get that pure white background?

you could, but it's harder and precision depends on your skill with the pen tool or other selection tool. if the goal is to get a white background, then how i did it took 10 seconds.

What I was trying to show you, though, was not post processing. What I wanted to illustrate (literally), was the importance of composition even with a simple subject like a rubberband ball on a white background.
