Apparently Pixort reads embedded JPG files from newer cameras fine. Try the trial version to confirm. This would be by far the fastest software if the others render from the RAW.

IrfanView can view all RAW's, even convert to a jpg if you want, delete right from the window by hitting Delete + Enter. And it's free. It also opens virtually any other format of image and movie.

DPP is pretty quick and easy for a computer illiterate like myself. I use the Quick Check Tool, check mark 1 to keep, 2 to delete. I then Sort them, View-sort-check mark 2, then select all the 2's, Shift - click on first and last 2 and then File - Delete and my bad photos never existed:)

I personally import all images to LR and embed all my copyright data and keywords at the time of import. I then make a cup of tea and then spend 20 mins rating the keepers and flagging the ones im going to delete then i erase the flagged photos. I've tried other ways but i now have my workflow set up in such a way that if i were to do it any other way it would cause me loads of hassle!
My Lightroom 2 workflow
1) Import to LR from Compactflash and add metadata
2) Make cup of tea(very important step as it goes with the remaining workflow)
3) Rate keepers and flag rejected files for deletion.
4) Ctrl + Backspace to delete flagged photos.
5) Make LR raw adjustments and run any presets if needed.
6) Export DNG files to DVD & Backup drive for archive.
7) Do any Photshop work needed on files.
8) When all work is complete Export hi res jpegs to complete folder and save 2nd DVD with another set of original DNG files and Finished Jpegs.

This works for me and has sped up my workflow no end!

Seconding the vote for DPP. Use the Quick View Tool, assign 3s to the ones you don't like, select all the 3s from the edit menu, and delete.

That is how I do too. I launch Quick View to full screen hover left hand over "1-2-3" key, right hand over arrows. 3's go to trash when I'm done. 1's get post processing. After I PP the 1''s and go back to 2s. If they don't become 1s they go to 3 and get deleted too.

Of course! Coffee is a vital component to my post-processing workflow :)
