I can't really put my finger on it but I'm not liking the way this pic came out...

I really dont like the color version and think it looks better in black and white but I dont know how to fix it to make it look better, I'm not really sure what it needs.

I'm really disappointed, this is the only shot out of 50 that I took where he is in focus and the sun isnt completely washing out his face.. (he was actually swinging and I am such a newb I didn't think about the focusing issue until I was pulling my camera out of the car after I got home)

Ideas? Thoughts? C&C? :D

Moving objects can be difficult unless you are shooting AI Servo, which I have not mastered by any stretch... or if your shutter speeds are really high it helps too.

If you can post your original, I bet people would be inclined to give you some editing ideas and post their take on it.

I tried the link, but it didn't work.

The one that I linked to is a larger version than this so it is over the size limit of the forum :) Maybe dragging the link to the address bar on your browser will work. though i cant see direct links to smugmug when I am at work because of websense.

And thanks for the input, I'm not even sure how to do that maybe thats something that I need to practice before he becomes mobile

The image isn't bad at all. Focus is acceptable... I think you can go either color or B&W on this one.. they both look good to me.

A little curves boost and some masking.. and saturation boost for the color.. add a vignette, and a little touch to the eyes... teensy bit of skin softening for the little rash area... and slightly different crop...

Here's my take, hope it helps a little bit. :)

oh wow, I definitely like Kristy's edits :) I was goign to suggest some burning of the edges with the sand, as the "dunes"" tend to distract. But Kristy did an awesome job :)
