Never heard of Senior photo shoots?

Until recently moving from Ontario, Canada to Nashville TN - I had never heard of senior photos. This is my first "senior shoot".

Here's the set-up...My clients were running really late. As I watched the last beautiful rays of cascading sun disappear into the horizon...I thought for sure the shoot would be a write-off.

These were a few from that "night".
Thanks for looking and CC appreciated.
Clare

Clare, I like the last one the best. Would be nice to see him looking into the camera.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

I personally do not like the ones where he's sitting..it looks as though he's waiting for someone to walk by and throw some money in his cup. I like that 2nd one where he's standing!

Thanks Locky and David for taking the time to comment.
I have a few where he's smiling. And a couple more standing. The clients have not given me any "favorites" yet. I'll be interested to see what they choose.

I like them all, I'm sure the ones where he's smiling/looking at the camera are very nice, I like the setting.

Clare, I like #2 (him in the alley) and #3. With some pp work these would look awesome with a Dave Hill type treatment.

Thanks, The setting was great. I'd never seen that area of town before. They picked the location. Just a little more light would have been perfect.

It took me a while to realise what Senior Shoots were when I first came to POTN - in these parts seniors are people over 65!

I like the composition on #2 but something about his expression takes what could have been a great shot to merely a good shot.

Nice shots Clare... too bad you left us in ontario... boohoo..but with a setting like that... wow.. would never find a place aroundme like that.

I like them I just would like to see some larger sizes.

Personally I like the one of him sitting down I just wish he was not pointing his shoe/foot off on a weird angle like that.

Thanks so much for all the excellent feedback.
I'm looking forward to doing some edits - once they narrow the favorites.

Great concept, background and lighting. I love all of them :)

Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)

Because you indicate in your profile that image editing is ok...

A lot of people suggest Dave Hill style like it's just something you can push a button and get instant Dave Hill looking photos. But this is rarely the case. It takes a special lighting set up that lends itself for the post processing techniques. That said... the last image had a good lighting situation to come somewhat close to the look. I took the liberty of showing off a little with your photo. I adusted the tilt a little too as it was a little over 1 degree off. The lines to me needed to be more vertical.

John,
Looks terrific. I'll give this a try on the original.

Thanks so much for the inspiration.
