I'm going to be photographing in a location that will most likely be rainy most of the time. Does anyone have any advice on the best products to protect the 20D from rain? I'll be shooting with various lenses from the 16-35 to the 27-200 w/2x extender.

Thanks.

I use Kata's E-702 rain cover when I expect to be out in the rain. It has sleeves for your arms, like a film changing bag, so you get to hold the camera directly inside the cover, and a clear back so you can see the VF and LC.

Thanks for the reply, Jon.

To follow up, have you tried or heard of any other brands that do the same thing or do you feel this is the best product out there? How does it affect autofocus having the bag over the camera? Any other issues?

The front of the lens isn't covered; your lens hood is ample protection there, so no AF issues.

I carry some OpTech RainSleeves in my bags at all times just in case. They run $6-$8 for a pack of 2. They're a little more than a basic plastic bag. Other people do use other covers; IIRC StormJacket's one of them.

Both of which I believe are available through B&H.

I have a couple of Stormjackets (http://www.stormjacket.com (external link)) and I like them. I do wish they were a bit more customizable, but they work great. You cinch the bungee cord around the lens hood the rest comes back over the camera. It provides ample protection.
