36 Frames shot over about 6 weeks, happy with 26 of them, the rest where ruined by the shutter sticking

Just a selection of frames, the idea was just to give a glimpse into my daily life, ISO 400 film was used as I live in a rather dull country all shot in M as is usual for me, selection of lenses can't tell you which though as no exif with film.

With the exception of #'s 1 and 3, the contrast seems very low. Is that possibly the result of the scanning parameters?

I don't see the LUAS anywhere. I was in Dublin a few years ago just as the LUAS was making its first runs and you could ride free. Very nice transportation.

Crank that contrast! What film were you using? I've always used kodak bw400cn with great results.

Good crisp, clear shots after a fix.

If I had to guess I'd say scanning parameters. I brought one into Photoshop, set the white point and black point and it looks great. That should be the first step in scanning I believe.

I did not scan got them developed straight to CD, yes I see the need for a bit of contrast now.

It was Fujifilm Neopan 400 BW which is a colour process film for black and white prints (all layers have black dye in them instead of colour). Sorry Rob, no Luas shots, its not free any more and my path and its path usually never cross very often, I'll make sure to snap it next time I see it.

Dave, what hardware/software did you scan with and what parameters/film size did you use? I have not had good results using an Epson flatbed with negative attachment.

EOS 5D II, 40D, Sony R1, Olympus 1030, Canon S5-IS.

I started with a Microtek flatbed and was not happy with the film scans either. I was scanning medium format negatives at that point. Now for the limited photo scanning I do I use a simple little HP S20 for 35mm slides and film. It's a max 2400dpi but gives me enough for normal prints. A dedicated slide/film scanner capable of 4000dpi will make a world of difference. I take my scans into CS3.
