RRS Lever Action Plate - Short or Long version?

im looking to get on of the RRS lever action quick release plates but im stumped on whether or not i should get the short or long version of the plate...

those of you that have them, which doe u use and/or prefer?

If you use long lenses the long plate will give you more choice for positioning the lens for balance. With heavy lenses you'll get more grip with the long version.

If you're using short (less than 400mm maybe) and light (less than 4 pounds maybe) lenses you won't see a difference most likely.

If you have long and/or heavy - or plan to purchase either - then the long version is the way to go. The short version will certainly do the job, but the long version will be a bit better.


You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
