Just browsing and started thinking.

for those of you not lucky enough to be living in the year round 70 degree temps, what do you do in your off season?

This is mainly for wedding photogs, here is Ohio it is getting colder, and we have a few winter weddings to do, but what do you guys do?

I have TONS of portrait requests from the wedding parties that I've shot. Also coming into Homecoming season for the schools.

I do contract work in the area I have my degree in. The demand for portraits isn't so high here AFAIK. I do a few.

Check out this thread.

Go somewhere warm. :D

The majority of our busy season is May-September and then we fulfill print orders and have a few weddings through December.

Mostly we just relax and work on making little changes for the upcoming season. (Changing pricing, adding new things, revamping the website, etc) Also, our local wedding expo is in January so we are usually getting ready for that.

Our biggest plan or this winter is making the choice on a new lab as well as a few changes in other areas.

My work is going more indoors and more corporate and small businesses than weddings are booking photography for the wintertime.

I take time off. Do non-photo projects. Work on my race car. travel. That's the best part of living in a brutal winter environment. You have lots of time for yourself half the year. If you can be disciplined and manage your money well then it isn't a problem to spread out your income over the entire year so you never feel like you're running low.

As for stuff I do in the winter that's photography related, I'm do some commercial stuff.
