Early Morning Series

Hey everyone. These were taken of my son watching t.v early this morning. I used available lighting and the 50mm 1.8mkII and hid behind the counter in the kitchen so that he would not see me taking these candid shots. They are done in manual mode and wide open. Any thoughts about exposure and if it looks balanced. Also, too shallow dof? These were cropped. Thanks for any comments.

The concept didn;t really work, but his eyes are amazing...he will get used to you in his face with that camera.lol..putting things infront of him makes for a tough shoot.

Yeah, I kind of figured this was somewhat unsuccessful. Not really a big response, but hey, I appreciate the feedback. Really, I was just playing with dof and getting used to understanding the low light capabilities of the "nifty fifty". Thanks for taking the time

Thats what its all about, practicing and having fun while learning. I do it everyday:p

Hmmm...I don't know that I'd give up on them so quickly. #3 has some possibilities, I think, if you play with cropping around the child and tone down the brighter "blob" at the bottom of his chin. It might just work.

And if it doesn't, well...he's a gorgeous fella and you'll have PLENTY of other opportunities!
