Urban or people.

I was leaning towards people

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I didn't think it looked like crap in print. ?!

I swear, I'm gonna get that photo printed and properly framed, then drag it all over the world to everyone who said it looks good in the book and show them how bad it really looked!

I don't have V1. Are the pages black like V2? Is that the reason you don't like it. It is hard to tell where the picture begins and ends.

I submitted this one for the first book:
QUOTED IMAGE

I spent hours cleaning it up, getting rid of the noise and making sure the star trails were perfectly visible. It made into the book! And looked like CRAP in print...

It did look terrible. Mine too (in that first year's book) I brought it up to the committee last year (used both yours and mine) as an example and request for print proofing better and the 2nd book shots seemed to look better.

Hey, I could use a little help. I have one more pic I want to submit for the book but I have no clue where I should put it.

The picture is of my brother-in-law on the 4th of july just after he finally received his citizenship and is watching the fireworks for the first time as a citizen. I was thinking either:
a. family.
b. people
c. other?
d. don't bother, it sucks.

thoughts?

I really like this shot!

It was in the first book. I haven't submitted anything or bought a Blurb book since...

Yay! Someone thought my photo looked terrible and I'm happy to hear it!

If they've really improved the quality, maybe I'll be ready to submit a shot or two next time...

sorry Lonnie. I'd just seen it here (and it looks fantastic on my desktop) and I knew it didn't do it justice in print. It's no reflection on you...it was just not a nice job. My photo printed beautifully too but not in the book. It was too dark (and I think yours was on the same page as mine).

I guess the better question would have been why did you not like the way it printed in the book?

V1 has white background...and with each version the book committee learns new things and I think the book improves measurably each time. I have both.

Sorry for what? I agree with you! The photos came out way too dark in the book. Isn't that what I said?

Nice looking street, for sure. Are you guys moving, or just thinking about it?

I use a construction calculator for this purpose too. The funny thing about imperial is that for construction of roads and such, they used to metricize feet, using 1/10th's of a foot instead of inches so unit could easily add together. Lengths would be something like 2,354.156 feet, and all the survey chains would be in these increments. Kind of a wannabe metric system. :D

We did the same thing in the aviation industry. All of our measurements were in inches, but instead of fractional parts of an inch we used decimals. We measured in tenths, hundredths and thousandths of an inch.

Given the back story of the image, I think it would be most appropriate in Wedding & Other Family Events...

Here's a pic...ignore lack of sharpness please.

Cute shot and hair cut.

Permagrin wrote in post #6704906 (external link)
(I'm having very nervous thoughts about cutting mine...it's between my shoulder blades when it's down...but I HATE growing out color in long hair...)

Just remember it will always grow out again, probably faster then you think.

Did I recover it ok? Or does it still need work?

Your recovery is good, what draws my eye is they all have the same smile, the same forced smile, in a creepy kind of way. I know you can't do anything about that.

Here (external link)are my buddies shots. He is really good and we have a bit of an informal rivalry going on.

You did a better job with the flash. Almost all of his have harsh shadows from shooting straight on. Guess you're the better photographer.:D

Permagrin wrote in post #6706100 (external link)
oooh, then you should have Puddle write it for you! (my advice is to not actually read what he writes until you deliver it)

:lol: I would love to see that. And Crissa you would have to keep a straight face, too.:D

Hmm.. I didn't think about events. I guess I always saw the wedding part.

I like the shot and would suggest events also.

G'MAE all, Curt just announced he is going to start throwing stuff away in the basement. Think I better double check what stuff.;)

Because:

Lack of contrast, I guess. The star trails were all lost. It looked like an arch against a black sky. That's not why I spent hours working on it...
