This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before and After #128".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Any edit, over-the-top creative or subtle, is encouraged!

This game will end on Monday at 9:00pm (EST)

Applied LucisArt whyeth #4
Fixed the curvature on the left side w\perspective tool, yeah I know, a lot of good that did :-) it was before I decided to go with fan effect.
Applied PanosFX fan. A free plugin for PSE6, figured I would give it a try.

I'm not entirely sure how I got back to the old photo/drawing look, it somehow happened on its own
I looks like an old newspaper photo or rather a moleskin drawing from the Renaissance... quite the opposite of the original feel

1st layer - high contrast, desaturated
2nd layer - pen drawing, medium opacity
3rd layer - folded paper texture, high contrast, low saturation, medium opacity
Base layer - old paper texture, lowered saturation, high contrast (erased edges of top layers)
Curve adjustment for brightness overall, contrast boost.

I don't want this officially entered...it didn't turn out how I would've liked. A little too Mr. Roger's Neighborhood fake looking and didn't have time to fix it. But - I worked on it, so I figured I might as well post it.

Nice edits all!

Robert that's a pretty neat little plugin - Do they have more of a folded fan look available ??

Blazin - nice color work & cloning job!

Silver -- Great job on trying to straighten things up a bit, I love the palm tree shadows and the bw works great.

Ilse - I like this a lot - it is a 1920's era building after all - but would like to see a tad more definition come out.

Suzy -- hate to see that you quit a bit early - I see where you where going with it and would love to see the end result.

So... the winner is Silver! Congrats and great job.

Thanks all for participating -- nice edits!

Here's my overcooked take on it.

Congrats Silver, that place cleaned up real nice :-)

I think on the free side the one fan is it. However,
PanosFX has several free plugins\effects. Check them out here (external link)
I use one for weddings the others I never use much, they do have some very nice quality actions and plugins though for a price.

I wasn't expecting this. ... I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I just started cleaning the image up. Richard, that fan plug-in produces a neat effect.

Monty - your edit was outstanding!!

Next one will be up soon.
