This image was taken on 7th May, 2012 from Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia at 6.51pm. Taken with a Canon 7D & Sigmonster with Kenko DG300 Pro 1.4x teleconvertor. The shot was taken using liveview & manually focussed at 10x magnification. The RAW file was processed using CS5. Shot settings....
Aperture f/11, 1/250 sec, iso 400, -2/3 stop exposure compensation & focal length (35mm equivalent) 1792mm.

Thanks, Palaima. Liveview makes getting the focus spot on easier, although at 10x magnification, the image on the lcd moves around the moment that you breath on the the focus ring.

I had in winter some thoughts to sell and get canon 400 2.8is insted, but I really love sigma zoom flexibility everytime when I use it ;)

I really love this lens for panning, because the during panning angle isn' t changing so much and with lower shutter speed I getting better focused pictures.

I use a Manfrotto MT057C3 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod, with a Manfrotto 393 head. It's a rock solid setup.

That Gimbal head works fantastic, but it's the heaviest Gimbal on the market!
I used to use it with the Sigmonster as well. It is indeed rock solid, cause it's solid steel!

The Tripod was £360, and the head was incredible value at just £120, the lens,............... don't ask.

Has some weight to it but not solid steel - Not magnetic - think it is just a whole lot of aluminum (it is 1/4" thick after all).

Just picket up a 300-800mm. Kind of makes the 120-300mm f2.8 feel light and compact by comparison.
