here´s one new lucky owner of the Sigmonster...
Gee.... I must say it is huge....
Was lucky to purch. it secondhand from a sports photographer that got out of job,
so the price tag was only 3800€.

What really makes me exited though is the performance... this is a great lens for this price... at its best stepped down by one and focal lengths
400 - 750mm
this lens is though way too big to be handheld at any times...
so my next purch will be a sturdy tripod and a swing...a gimbalhead of some kind....

If anyone has good options to come with... I´m listening..
Not interested in "sidekicks"

Tooked with 2x sigma, monopod.
Could be better with tripod, it' s hard to focus with monopod.

Anyway, I' m thinking to sell mine, it' s still under warranty (like a new). Located in Estonia, also may trade to Canon 1d4. Questions in private.

With tripod it could be better, still with monopod, hard to get ideal focus.

This lens gives some pause to my plans to get a 600 f/4 L.

Took this shot on 20/03/2011 with a 1.4X Kenko 300DG teleconvertor & the Sigmonster at 800mm, giving an equivalent 35mm FL of 1792mm. Settings were f/13, 1/60 sec, ISO 100 on a Canon 7D in liveview. This was taken in Port Macquarie on the east coast of Australia, as the clouds finally cleared.

Some photos and video clips of a couple of birds, courtesy of my previous sigmonster. I sold mine to a birder-friend last year, and I miss it very much. Its framing flexibility and extreme reach make it an ideal lens for filming birds.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you sell it? Did you replace it with something else?

Just curious since I thoroughly enjoyed the work you shared on pbase, and well it is a great commercial for that lens :P

Thanks. I'll probably wait for a new version with OS and focus limiter, the two things that's keeping the Sigmonster from becoming the ultimate birding lens. :)

I got into a project (external link)that precludes me from using 3rd party lenses. ;)

Meantime, here's another Sigmonster capture:

Marsh Sandpiper (Tringa stagnatilis)
