Just ordinary cellophane toothpicks, imagine trying to shoot something with so many wilting parts...

You are where I saw the carrots in ice. I like that shot a lot.

Thank you, it was for an Editorial story about frozen food. It turned into an experiment for the Food Stylist and I to see how different waters froze, more transparent and show the foods off better.

I like yours better. This was my attempt. I sacrificed two organic carrots and some distilled water. I did freeze about a 1/2 in the baking dish first then I put in the carrots and more water on top. Please take my trying this as the highest compliment.

I appreciate the comments. It looks like a little spritz of water would've made it a little more transparent and shown the carrots details.

While I was waiting for it to freeze I had the idea that before I was going to shoot I would get a rag wet with hot water to make the ice thinner in spots just as you said. Until I just read your post, just now, I had forgotten my plan :)

Attempting to shoot sandwiches... Been a frustrating week. At least I had a nice lunch, maple honey ham with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes.

This was the original where the tomato was on top before it slid out. LOL... it was covering the mozzarella so after it slid out I placed it under instead.
