chubs i especially like the grey goose shot!

on purpose I used low power, i.e. 1/32 on the 2 flashes ad did this in a dark room to make the flash basically the shutter, ths freeze action.

then when editing I went quite overboard with contrast and saturation as well as sharpening to get to this:

please give me some conments as to what you think.

I think I am going to be drunk right now so speak to you again tomorrow!

Hey Kandy,

It's a start. Go and grab a couple of reading lamps and some sheets of paper and practice lighting with some continuous light sources. Don't photograph but do move the lights around and learn how the light interacts with your subjects.

Hey macobee,

Give me a salad please!

...but serve the refreshments out of the red bottomed glass. That's grey/blue bottom makes the liquid look underexposured or like you're serving ash. :(

It's a pity. It's got a wonderful shape to it.

Justal, agree with you on the glass, not suitable color for this kind of setting after all.

Ruben, you may want to cook the fish (Codfish fillet??) first, it kind of looks not yet cooked.
The duck looks ok but i find you have some blue reflections in there......a tv perhaps? you have many fantastic fotos on your website!

Guys my website is going live in a few days.....about 90 % ready now....I would appreciate sdome constructive feedback www.fnbimaging.com (external link)

Cheers

Marco

Thx Marco!

Yep it's codfish, and actually it's cooked lol, it's boiled. The light setup was a disaster at thar house, probably the tv was on although I tried to cover it's light. Only used a bounced 580 and a reflector, with 0 natural light. At my home now at least I have natural light to play with.

You have some amazing food photos, I'm damn hungry!!

Your website is looking great Macobee, very simple and easy to navigate. I'd check over your 'About Us' section as there are quite a few grammatical errors. Example "only got few minutes" and "food will no longer on its photographic condition.". I'm sure as it's only 90% complete you would've looked over and ironed this out anyhow. Just incase.

Keep the great food photography coming, and I have quite a few images to post up later tomorrow or on Thursday.

Thanks Kzaroshen!

I am trying to replicate an few images "somehow" from Alex Kolskov, wo does some awesome work in my eyes, here is below the continuing of my trials and errors of doing so.

here is my image with setup and descriptions of setup: http://www.flickr.com …/marcoveringa/3743353210/ (external link) you have to click this link to see the desscriptions, or see the image without descriptions here:

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2439/3743353210_41079c8758_o.jpg

I used a gridded flash to reduce the big highlights or even starbursts appearing on the glass/liquid. gridded flash at about 1/16 or 1/32 and b/g flash at 1/16 from close range.

I am not to happy with this first one as i dont get enough light in the glass I find, but also I have these ugly flash reflections in the bottom right as well as top right.

here i almost had a nice pour, but went a bit to far of the side...but again ligh is not that flattering the glass i must say, though the liquid and bottle neck seem nice now to me.

Probably the best from this series, all looking smooth and sharp if you ask me, except for the right hand bottom 3 highlights/starbursts....bummer :( not geting any closer to your stuff.

Last but not least a quick shoot of another glass, gin tonic being made to quench the photographers thirst
