Yes, the theme of that promo piece was the color blue. Here is an image from another promo.

Macobee -- The 1st egg shot would have been nice, except the umbrella is really distracting. Nonetheless, it was worth a try. Hope to see your second attempt soon!

Tchphoto1 -- The pasta is plated very well; do you have a shot of it that's closer, perhaps?

Food needs a section of it's own

Indeed.

The key to lighting any shiny surface is not to light it all! All light modifers will leave their reflection. so the key is direct the photons to a source so large that it envelopes the entire subject. Food is shot using cross, back and base lighting. Glass is shot by indirect flood, and spot modifiers and often by lighting just the edges to show shape.

well, frank who is the one who inspired me to do this was prety well able to do it nicely with a softbox: http://www.flickr.com/photos/frankbb/3067370213/ (external link)

but i take your comments to heart, what i will try to do next time is use a bedsheet suspended as a soft box above it and fire my flashes above that.

thats should do with the source "so large"

Jeremy, I do not have a tighter shot of the pasta, we had a specific shot in mind and did not move closer. Here is another image from the series, it's a roasted squash with couscous.
