Sorry for the horrible shots. I was walking down to the river, and spotted this fella on the top of a 5 foot weed in the trail. I had my 30D with the 100-400L attached, so in most cases I could get a fairly decent shot off of something this small. However, being fall.......it was quite windy. That 5 foot weed was being blown around 2-3 feet, and rarely stayed still.

I don't even know how I saw this dude......it looked like some sort of cotton or fur that just got brushed off onto the weed. I guess it caught my eye when it moved. Anyhow, this is yet another good excuse for me to pick up a decent macro lens.

Can anyone ID this bad boy? Possibly show me a real macro shot of what he looks like in focus? :D

Thanks for the ID help. Yes he certainly was quite alive.......not sure what he was doing, but he was running back and forth between the tip of the tallest branch, to the base of the branch he was on. I could see some webbing attached to it......but not sure if that wasn't just a safety line it case it fell.

I did a quick google on the first reply, ID'ing it as Salticid, and found it to be a jumping spider. After seeing a couple pictures, I now see how it was easliy identified by its two large eyes. I did some searching on here though, and can't seem to find a picture of a white one or even a 'clear' one. Can anyone provide any info or pics on this color?

Thanks!
