hi

I wanted share a pic that i have cloned out the corner of the wall and the ceiling... but im really not that satisfied with it. I can't seem to clean everything up well near her bandana. i'll post the before and after pics. I was wondering if anyone with their superior PP skills could "help a brotha out" :D

Before

After: There is a small area next to her hair and bandana that just don't look natural to me... am i being way to picky?

If you mask out the subject first and clone on a blank layer, it's easier to do what you were aiming to do. I would go further and tone the bright yellow down so it harmonizes better with the model's clothing and skin tones. Something like this:

Here is my attempt.

Made a selection and then selected colors for the background and foreground to use in the gradient. Added a gradient fill to blend in the main color change. Added a blank layer and painted to help blend in. Used a d&b layer to further blend in.

wow guys your edits look great.

peano, although i get what your saying about the changing the backround color to something that match her outfit better, the rest of the series have the same yellow and i kind of like it. Thanks for you edit and time, much appreciated.

D Thompson, this is great, much better than i did. I'm gonna give it a go... not sure how exactly to do it so i might PM you or something to figure it out. Thanks

-Mike

Peano - is there a tutorial somewhere you can point to on how to do this?

I think the original looked fine. It's ALWAYS easier to take the photo properly to start with than to mess with it later.

There are countless ways to create masks in Photoshop. In this case (fairly clean edges around the subject), quick mask would be a good way to learn. Google "Photoshop quick mask" (without the quotes) and you'll find many tutorials.

I agree, i didn't even notice the corners in the photo until after i took it :( . Next time i know to pay more attention to details like this.

Thanks Peano. I have a passing acquaintance with masks, but no experience with using them to aid in the cloning process, as you mentioned earlier in the thread, but you've given me a place to start looking.
