Earlier this year there was a couple of discussions on the merit (and cost) of IS v Non IS, especially on the 70-200 Lens.
I watched and waited till I had the chance to try out my new 70-200 IS Lens, the opportunity came when I went home to New Zealand in February and went whale watching and swimming with dolphins.
(Advert: A must do if you visit NZ)
My verdict:
I am glad I purchased the lens with IS, I believed it helped me capture some great moments, whilst the boat was rocking from side to side and up and down.
Following links show some of the better photos(at low jpeg), most taken with 70-200 and 1.4 multiplier

I did feel sorry for a lot of people with Point and Shoot digitals, the common complaint from then was shutter lag -they were missing a lot of shots.
A few green eyes on the boat as they looked at my 10D and the big white lens.
Any comments welcome...
