Just a couple bald eagles frollicking in the winter water.

The best one of the series as far as I am concerned :)
Lost some image quality converting it to jpg.

Wow, what a shot. I have never seen them frollicking, but I have seen them dive right in like a huge Osprey and drag a fish as big as themsleves 50 yards to the edge of the ice before they could drag it out, and that in 20 below temps. That's dedication. These birds do not do anything to waste a single calorie in dead of winter, too hard to earn it back. Which is why it's illegal to pester eagles, make them fly. I've never seen them waste a single wing flap. :)

Yup, hand held with the 300, the IS really comes in handy. I had to shoot at ISO 1000 to get the shutter speed I needed.

Thanks to everyone for their comments! I really appreciate it.

There has been plenty of eagle activity around town now that it is winter time in Alaska. I hope I will have some more to post later.
