I just noticed that my tokina 12-24 f/4 has been acting strange. The AF is very slow and sluggish. It's like the AF is on its way out or something. If I play with the focus in MF and then switch back to AF it loosens it up a bit to make focus smoother.

Has anyone else with this lens had any problems like this?

i absolutely love this lens. I will not consider selling it ever. But i do want to find out if the AF is not working properly. Its not going to be under warranty as I bought it used from a member on here about 2 years ago.

i contacted tokina about the lens. they said to send it in with the original box and warranty card. But when I went to look for the box i found that but no warranty card. Being that i bought it from a member on here im going to be pretty much S.O.L. right? they said if i can get a receipt they'll take that but how am i going to do that.

Sure it wasn't in the box when you bought it? Perhaps it fell out? Otherwise it'd be very hard to say. Try contacting that member and MAYBE he/she might happen to have the receipt or the warranty card?

I thought the speed is not too bad with my copy. Did you focus in the dark or something?
