Then lens I have been dreaming of, but never thought I could get? I *think* it might be on its way to me...the 24-105 :) :) :)

I was just making my daily rounds of admiring it, and somehow my finger pushed a button, and I got approved for Amazon Store Credit! I didn't get enough credit to cover the cost of the whole lens, but most of it. I am just waiting for response back if I can use another form of payment to pay the balance the credit doesn't cover...and then, I might be putting a couple of my dust collecting lenses up for sale here :)

Cross your fingers for me, please? K?

Thanks for sharing in my (probable) excitement! I am going to use this to replace the 28-135 and the 18-55....and I think I will have the perfect setup for what I am doing right now. I hope! Still waiting to hear back from the Amazon Lady.....:/

Hate to put a pin in this balloon, however - getting a lens on credit is never a good idea.

Add up the APR of the card -
say 19.9% so if the lens costs $1000, over 3 years will cost you $1597
if its 29.9% it will cost you $1997 - double over 3 years.

Watch that APR and make sure you CAN afford it at the end of the day :)

I purchased my 24-105L as well as my 200mm2.8L when I just had my XT. Then I got a great deal on my 40D Kit with the 28-135 so I sold my 28-135 for $300.00 to fund my 17-40L.

I suggest that if you get the lens, sell your not needed lenses, add any extra funds and pay off the 24-105L to avoid the interest charges.

I've got a decent amount of credit card debt right now and it truly sucks, you literally never get ahead on it.

Amazon is offering 24 months interest free on the 24-105 until February 2009 I think. Just make sure you can pay it off in 24 months! :)
