Petaluma, California still believes in a traditional Veterans Day parade. Here are a couple of shots of some of the participants and bystanders.

I think that's wonderful...I wish more towns would recognize the "smaller" holidays, even with just a small parade and salute.

If you look at the link - you'll see the small town main street where the parade was held. Tractors, fire engines, old cars and marching cub scouts. I'll be posting some more shots on my Smugmug site when I have time to do some more post processing.

I really like #2. Nice job. I wish I would've known this was happening. I saw 4 old WWII era planes and a Huey flying around Petaluma today and thought something must be going on.

I'm jealous of your shots. I wish my typical shot would be just as sharp!

Great shots ... what lens was #1 shot with? I can't seem to get to the EXIF.

Looking at the gallery makes me realise once again how much better Americans are at public ceremony than us Brits. I was in the US for 4th July and it was great - fire engines, classic cars, the mayor, patriotism... you don't get that over here!

I used a Canon 5D with the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens for all the shots. Most were taken at ISO 320, 1/500th, f5.6. with a monopod to stabilize things. This was my second time out with this lens.

You did a great job with that combo, Tim!! These photos ar fabulous! I will have to try using a monopod with mine..it does get heavy after a short time.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Thanks for the kind comments, but I owe it all to you. I would never have considered a 100-400 until I saw what you were able to do with yours at the POTN meet. The Canon lens rebate helped too. :)
