Just back from six glorious, fun-filled days in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Went with two of my bestest buddies. Drove 272 miles from Vegas to the Canyon, only getting stopped by a trooper once who was kind enough to give only a written warning for speeding.

Here's a couple of pics:

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

I'm not much impressed with pictures of road signs, but your shot of the Grand Canyon is quite nice.

Let me guess. You were going 100mph, the tropper stopped you, saw your full head of white hair and said to himself "There's no way this geezer could have been going 100mph...look at him...he's like 80 years old...better just give him a warning...I don't want to have to deal with another geezer fit from these damn city slickers!".

So did you bring your Nikon rig or was this the G10 with some voodoo converter to mount your 100-400L on the G10?

:-)

I'm hoping these are just the teaser shots and we get to see the good stuff once Mark has had a chance to review and do a little editing. I sure hope that's the case. ;)

What can be better than a nice trip without the family eh?
You guys look like you had a great time!

Hope to get back there in the near future. Last time I went, all I had was a wimpy P&S. At least I knew how to use that damn thing instead of my current gear!

Uh, excuse me, Sire, but you had ample advance notice of my impending arrival. I may not have waved, but I did have my friends pass a little gas so you would know full well we arrived.

And as to road signs, I thought that was my best work yet. :(

Yeah, the first shot is so good, I feel like I was right there being welcomed into the State of Arizona by that lovely sign...

Man, with the Winter approaching us in NYC, I would give my left...well you know...to go somewhere nice.

The picture of O'Neill's Butte was taken either from Yavapai Point or Mather Point. I'm betting the former. Do you remember which? Either way, it makes me homesick for my GC days. We hiked and/or ran the canyon several times a year from '85 until '99.
